Second Half Spurt Downs Coast Guard

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Sophomore goalie Angel Fay had a season high 15 saves, but Stockton opened up a close game in the second half taking a 11-3 victory in nonconference action. 

With the loss the Bears drop to 0-2 on the season while the Osprey improve to 2-0 overall.

Sophomore Daria McKenna had a team high two goals while freshman Carter Sanderson scored he first collegiate goal in the loss. 

Senior Lauren Ivancich scored a game high four goals while freshman Sarah Frankovic had  three goals and an assist tallying four points of her own. Junior Kim Raichelson scored two goals for Stockton as well. 

The Osprey took an early 3-0 lead with goals by Raichelson, Ivancich and senior Skyler Mahoney-Kendra just over five minutes into the half.

Sanderson got Coast Guard on the board with a goal with 16:21 remaining in the first half. After Sanderson's goal the scoring stopped for the half as Fay made five saves making the halftime score 3-1.

Stockton took control in the second half outscoring the Bear's 8-2. Ivancich and Frankovic scored three goal in the half for the Osprey. 

McKenna scored her two goals in the second half and Fay faced 22 shots in the half and making 10 saves.

Fay (0-2) is currently first in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) with 23 saves on the season and is third with a 48.9 save percentage. 

Senior Mary Stornes earned her second win of the season (2-0) making three saves on six shots. 

Coast Guard is back in action on their spring break trip in Colorado with a game against Colorado College. Game time is 6:00 pm EST.
