Bears Strike Gold Three Times at Head of Housatonic

SHELTON, Conn. – It was a great day as Coast Guard won gold in all three events at the Head of the Housatonic.

Coast Guard won all three events they entered, the Collegiate Non-Division I 8 (15:30.6), the Collegiate All Category 8 (17:10.09) as well as the Collegiate Non-Division I 4 (16:30.8).

It was a fantastic day for Coast Guard.  All three boats started first in their respective events and held that top spot by racing aggressively down the course, pulling away from the crews behind them and passing crews in the events ahead of them.

For all boats, there was marked improvement from a week ago, demonstrating that the hard work the women are putting in daily is paying off.  The novices raced with immense drive and unrelenting power, making it the best row they've had yet.  The Varsity 8+ defended their championship in this event for the third year in a row.

"Bringing home gold in all events today is a huge win for Coast Guard," said head coach Jodi Hope. "We're on the right path to building depth in the program and looking ahead to not only a great Fall season, but hopefully a strong spring as well.  We'll use these wins to keep propelling us forward to reach for and attain new goals."
