SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Mike Melampy and Ben Errington both won their singles and doubles match leading Coast Guard to a 5-4 win over Springfield in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
Melampy's 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 win at #4 singles lastly nearly three hours and was the final match to finish as the Bears improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the NEWMAC.
Melampy and John Hu won 8-6 at #2 doubles while Ben Errington and Adam Bahney registered a 8-4 win as the Bears led 2-1 after doubles play.
Arthur Wicke was a 7-5, 6-3 winner at #5 singles while Errington won at #6 singles 6-2, 6-0.
Springfield led 4-2 before the Bears won #6 singles, #5 singles and #4 singles to clinch the victory.
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday when they host MIT in a NEWMAC match at 1:00.
