New London, Conn.-- The #16 Coast Guard men's swimming and diving fall to #5 MIT in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon at Roland Pool. MIT snaps the Bears undefeated streak for the 2018-19 campaign with a score of 157-86.
Coast Guard had only three, first place finishes on the men's side. Devin McClure topped the 200 Free with a time of 1:43.76. Joe Rodriguez had a first place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 20.80. Eric Fuhs completed the 200 Breast first, touching the wall at 2:07.57
The Bears had six, second place finishes in the dual meet. The 400 Medley team of Devin McClure, Chasse Sodemann, Patrick Jackson, and Rodriguez finished in 3:29.15. Taylor Rowe finished the 1000 Free in second place at 10:00.59. Fuhs had a time of 1:58.34 in the 200 IM for his second place finish. CJ Omweg finished the 200 Back in 1:57.80. McClure had a time of 4:42.71 in the 500 Free for his second place finish. The 400 Free relay team of John Feller, John Pompay, Tyler Dominick, and Joe Rodriguez clinched second place for the Bears, touching the wall at 3:10.86.
Coast Guard will return to the pool next Saturday, January 19 as they host rival Merchant Marine in a 12:00 PM dual meet at Roland Pool.
