WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior Louis DePaolis had two goals but Clark (6-4, 1-1) ran out to a 5-1 lead in the first half beating Coast Guard (1-7, 0-2) by a final score of 9-4 in NEWMAC competition.
Junior Rob Holden had a game high five goals pacing the Cougars. Sophomore Nick Johnson had a goal and three assists giving him a team high 46 points on the season.
Clark had a 2-0 lead after the first quarter with goals by Johnson and senior Peter Christiansen.
The Bears made the score 2-1 at the start of the second quarter as Matt Huemme scored his one goal of the game with 9:48 left in the first half.
Clark scored the final three goals of the half however taking a 5-1 lead into the second half.
Coast Guard would once again score the first goal of the quarter as Justin Huemme scored under a minute in the third quarter making the score 5-2.
The Cougars would push the lead to five by the end of the third quarter with goals by Holden and junior Ryan Moore making the score 7-2.
DePaolis would help the Bears mount a comeback at the start of the fourth quarter as he scored his team high two goals to start the period cutting Clarks lead to three.
Holden, however, would score the final two goals of the game giving the Couagrs the 9-4 win and their first NEWMAC win of the season.
Freshman Kurt Caminske made 13 saves on 22 shots on goals bringing his season record to 2-0.
Sophomore Drew Riopelle-Tyrell raised his record to 6-3 on the season making 10 saves on 14 shots face.
Senior Nick Chicoine collected a team high eight ground balls and won 10-17 face offs.
The Bears hit the road once again on Wednesday, April, 8th as they travel to cross town rival Mitchell for a nonconference contest. Game begins at 4:00 pm.
