Graytok Leads Bears Past Clark

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Sean Graytok had a career-high 27 points as all five Coast Guard starters scored in double figures leading the Bears to a 91-78 win in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

The Bears shot a season-high 55.4 percent (36-65), snapped their four game losing streak, and improved to 9-5 overall and 1-4 in the NEWMAC while Clark dropped to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Coast Guard would connect on 7 of 18 from 3-point range. Clark was 28 of 72 (38.9 percent) from the floor and hit 13 of 31 from behind the arc.

Sophomore Noah Baldez and classmate Packy Witkowski each had 14 points while junior Bryce Schroeder and sophomore Justin Kane each added 13 points in the win for Coast Guard. Kane led the Bears with nine rebounds while Graytok added eight rebounds. Graytok connected on 11 of 17 from the floor and 4 of 5 from behind the arc.

Junior Adam Converse had 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for Clark off the bench while junior Luca McCormick (13), freshman Anthony Grzembski (12) and freshman Biko Gayman (11) also scored in double figures for the Cougars. Gayman had a game-high five assists.

Coast Guard jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first four minutes and led by as many as 15 in the first half, 40-25 with 6:26 left. The Bears led 48-41 at the break.

The Bears would use a 17-3 run in the second half to blow the game open turning a 62-53 lead with 14:12 left into a commanding 79-56 lead with 9:41 remaining. Clark would answer with 12-3 spurt cutting the deficit to 82-68 with 4:40 left.

Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday when the Bears host Springfield in a NEWMAC game at 1:00.
