Frazer Leads Bears to Third Straight Win

LYNN, Mass. -- Sophomore Jason Frazer had a career-high 18 points, one of five Bears players in double figures, leading Coast Guard to an 81-75 win over Fisher in a non-conference game.

Frazer, making his first career start, was 7 of 10 from the field as the Bears won their third straight to improve to a 3-1 on the season. Fisher dropped to 4-6 overall. He had the hot hand early as the carried the Bears scoring the team's first 12 points, infact, following his layup with 10:55 left in the first half he led Fisher 12-10.

Freshman J.T. Cox had a season-high 13 points while sophomores Packy Witkowski and Justin Kane also both added 13 and classmate Noah Baldez finished with 12 points in the win. Witkowski had a team-high seven rebounds and five assists for the Bears.

Fisher would pull even 49-49 with 17:38 left in the game before the Bears used an 8-0 run to open a 57-49 lead with 15:04 remaining. The Falcons would use a 9-0 run to regain the lead 67-65 with 4:31 left in the game.

Kane's layup with 38 seconds left broke a 71-71 tie and Baldez made a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left before he went 4 for 4 from the stripe in the final seven seconds to ice the game. 

Coast Guard fell behind 6-0 early and didn't score in the first six minutes of the game.  Fisher led 10-2 with 12:38 left in the first half before the Bears used a 14-0 run capped on a bucket by freshman Tyler Jones for a 16-10 lead with 9:33 left in the half. The Bears led 41-36 at the break.

"We demonstrated a lot of determination in this win," said Coast Guard head coach Kevin Jaskiewicz."We beat a very good team on the road. I am very proud of our effort."

Coast Guard shot 42.6 percent from the floor (23-54) while making 5 of 19 from 3-point range. Fisher was 31 of 70 (44.3 percent) converting on 6 of 17 from behind the arc.

The Bears went to the foul line 37 times and made 30 (81.1 percent). Baldez was a perfect 10 for 10 while Cox made 9 of 10.

Coast Guard is back in action on Sunday at Connecticut College at 1:00.
