NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Sophomore All-American Kaitlyn Mooney has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Mooney has run four times this season and earned the honor all four times. This week, she won the Connecticut College Invitational leading Coast Guard to a solid fifth place finish.
She got a bit of revenge and ran a winning time of 21.09 beating Natalie Cooper from TCNJ and Natalie Bettez from Tufts. Bettez beat Mooney to win the Purple Valley Classic three weeks ago while Cooper beat Mooney two weeks ago at the Paul Short Run.
The four teams that beat Coast Guard on Saturday are all ranked in the Top 16 nationally.
The Bears, ranked 29th nationally and 7th in New England, are back in action on Oct. 27th at the NEWMAC Championship at Smith.
