NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after her second place finish at the Purple Valley Invitational.
Mooney crossed the finish line in 22:16.17 helping the Bears to seventh place finish. It is the team's second straight top – 10 finish to start the season and their best finish in program history at the Purple Valley Invitational.
In her first nine career races, Mooney has never finished out of the top five including a fourth place finish at the 2017 Division III National Championship. She is the reigning NEWMAC and USTFCCCA New England Region Runner of the Year.
Coast Guard is back in action this weekend at the competitive Paul Short Invitational in Lehigh, Pennsylvania.
