WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. –In a stacked field, the Coast Guard women's cross country team took home a seventh-place finish Saturday at the Purple Valley Invitational hosted by Williams College.
The Bears scored 173 points for seventh place, their best team finish at the Purple Valley Invitation in program history. MIT, ranked fourth in Division III, won the meet with 67 points followed by host Williams, ranked eighth in Division III, with 81.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney was the top finisher for Coast Guard, crossing the line in second place (22:16.17). Mooney finished in second place for the second straight year.
Freshman Laurel Felt continued her hot start to her Coast Guard career finishing in ninth place in 23:14.1. Her time is 13thall-time in program history passing Jenn Haley who 23:26 in 2013 at the Westfield State Invitational.
Junior Olivia Suski also finished in the top 50, running a time of 24:15.2 for 43rdplace.
Finishing up the top seven for the Bears were sophomore Emma Sims (24:56.9, 59thplace), junior Kirtsen Carson (24:57.2, 60thplace), sophomore Maeve Roach (24:59.9, 62ndplace) and senior Nina Ragle (25:06.6, 65thplace).
Coast Guard is back in action next weekend at the competitive Paul Short Invitational in Lehigh, Pennsylvania.
