Mooney Named USTFCCCA New England Region Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Freshman Kaitlyn Mooney has been named USTFCCCA New England Region Athlete of the Year after winning the NCAA Division III New England Championship and punching her ticket to the Division III National Championship.

Mooney crossed the line in 20:22, nine seconds ahead of senior Nicky Roberts of Amherst leading the Bears to a 13th place finish overall. Her time also broke her own school record by over a minute.

She finishes the season winning five of the six races she entered and setting both the 5K and 6K program record. Mooney earned NEWMAC Runner of the Year honors, NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honors and was a four times NEWMAC runner of the week this year. She was also named USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week after her performance at the Saratoga Invitational.

Mooney is headed to Elsah, Illinois to compete at the NCAA Division III National Championship Saturday, November 18th. The race will start at 1:15 pm. For more information on live results and viewing the meet CLICK HERE.
