Bears Take Top 10 Finish at Harkness Park

WATERFORD, Conn. - Coast Guard ran to a 10th place finish at the Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park.

The overall winner was Tufts with 63 points followed by fellow NESCAC school Middlebury with 70 points. The Bears were the top finishing school in the NEWMAC topping the five other teams in attendance (WPI, Clark, Wheaton, Springfield and Babson).

The top finished for Coast Guard was junior Rachel Burchill who crossed the line in 23:35.4 for 60th place.

Right behind Burchill was senior Jenn Haley (23:39.3) and sophomore Anita Green (23:41.7) for 62nd and 63rd place respectively.

Senior Bonny Turnage ran to a 70th place finish in 23:49.3 while senior Bonny Turnage (24:10.8) finished in 89th place.

Rounding out the top seven for the Bears was sophomore Nina Ragle (128th, 24:54.7) followed by freshman Brandee Schiller (170th, 25:54.3).

Coast Guard is back in action Saturday, October 29th when they start postseason competition with the NEWMAC championship. The meet will be hosted by Smith.
