MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. - Coast Guard ran to a ninth place finish at the 38th Annual Mike Woods Geneseo Cross Country Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo at Letchworth State Park.
The Bears scored 263 points for the ninth place finish. Host SUNY Geneseo won with 22 points putting their top five in the top seven.
Senior Gretchen Krause was Coast Guard's top finisher crossing the line in 23:32.5 for 37th place.
Classmate Bonny Turnage (24:00.2) was the next runner across the line for the Bears, finishing in 56th place.
The next four runners for Coast Guard were all grouped within 20 seconds of each other as sophomore Anita Green (68th), senior Jennifer Haley (74th), junior Rachel Burchill (78th) and freshman Kirsten Carson (90th) ran 24:09.1, 24:13.3, 24:17.5 and 24:31.8 respectively.
The seventh runner for the Bears was sophomore Morgan Garrett covering the course in 24:41.6 for a 102nd place finish.
Coast Guard is back in action next weekend, October 8th, when they travel to Westfield State for the James Early Invitational which will also be the site for the New England Division III Championship at the end of the season.
