Bears Compete at NEWMAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Coast Guard women's cross country team ran to a 7th place finish at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Bears scored 168 points as a team.

For the ninth year in a row MIT won the team championship with 19 points putting five runners in the top six. Wellesley was second with 37 points.

Junior Gretchen Krause was the top finisher for Coast Guard crossing the line in 19:47 for a 32nd place finish. Freshman Nina Ragle was just eight second behind her covering the 5k course in 19:55 for a 36th place finish

Junior Jennifer Haley (19:57), senior Jessica Mulroy (19:59), and senior Carolyn Smith (20:25) rounded out the top five for the Bears as they finished in 38th, 40th, and 56th place respectively.

The Bears are back in action Saturday, November 7th, when they travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the ECAC championships.
