Coast Guard Downs Merchant Marine in Superintendents Trophy Action

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bears topped Merchant Marine 20-41 at the Purple Valley Invitational securing a valuable point towards the Superintendents Trophy.

In the 6k race Coast Guard finished in 13th place scoring 397 points. Williams was the top team finishing with 39 points.

Sophomore Rachel Burchill was the top finisher in 68th place crossing the line in 25:16.3. She was followed by fellow sophomore Jessica Mulroy in 70th place in a time of 25:21.8.

Junior Jennifer Haley was the next finisher (80th place) in 25:48.7. Senior Andrea Barrameda (25:58.5) and Sophomore Emily Cox (27:00.6) rounded out the scoring for the Bears finishing in 82nd place and 97th place respectively.

In the 5k race where Coast Guard battled Merchant Marine, freshman Nina Ragle crossed the line in second place in a time of 20:18.2. Sophomore Maral Toukhanian was the next finisher for the Bears (13th place) covering the course 25:21.8.

Senior Melissa Keeley finished (21:55.7), junior Bonny Turnage (22:24.8), and freshman Callie Guzenhauser (22:38.5) were 15th, 18th, 21st respectively.

Coast Guard is back action next weekend, October 3rd, at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh.
