Gollin, Krause Earn All-NEWMAC Honors; Bears Place 3rd

BOSTON, Mass.—Junior Beth Gollin and freshman Gretchen Krause each earned All-conference honors with a top 14 finish as Coast Guard placed third at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at Franklin Park.

The Bears placed fifth at the NEWMAC Championships last season.

Gollin finished the 5K course in 18:49 to place eighth and earn All-conference honors for the second time in her career as she placed eighth during her freshman season.

Krause ran the course in 19:02.31 to place 11th earning All-conference honors for the Bears, who finished with 99 points. MIT won its seventh NEWMAC championship with 23 points while Wellesley was second with 70 points.

Sophomore Carrie Smith placed 22nd (19:32) while senior Megan Kalinowski was 36th (19:53) and freshman Jenn Haley placed 38th (19:59) to round out the Bears top five.

The Bears are back in action on Saturday when the compete at the ECAC Championship at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I.
