NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Ashley Dumont and freshman Michelle Hernandez were both selected for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference all conference team. Dumont was voted first team all conference and Hernandez was second team.
Dumont was fourth in the conference and first for the Bears with 356 kills. She also led Coast Guard and was third in the NEWMAC with a .319 hitting percentage. Dumont was a key component to the Bears two wins over Springfield this season as she hit .567 with 18 kills in their regular season match and hit .333 with 11 kills in their tournament rematch.
Hernandez was second on the team with 440 assists and 303 digs. She appeared in 31 matches for Coast Guard and was a consistent force for the Bears. In Coast Guard's quarterfinal win over Springfield, Hernandez had 21 assists and 14 digs helping the Bears reach the NEWMAC semifinals.
Coast Guard looks to build on a season that saw them go 19-12 and advance to their 14th straight NEWMAC semifinal. The Bears will have their entire nucleus back next year as the team had no seniors.
