BRISTOL, R.I.— Brittany McMullen and Kristen Boyer each had nine kills leading Roger Williams, ranked third in New England, to a 3-0 win over Coast Guard in a non-conference game.
The Hawks won 25-13, 25-23, 25-17 to improve to 18-5 overall while the Bears dropped to 18-9 on the season.
Junior Ashley Dumont led the Bears with nine kills while sophomore Susan West added seven kills in the loss. Freshman Michelle Hernandez led Coast Guard with 17 digs and 13 assists.
"It was a tough day and hopefully we can learn from this loss and come out ready to play and grab a victory on Tuesday night against Wellesley," said Coast Guard head coach Aylene Ilkson.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday when they host Wellesley in a key New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game at 7 p.m.
