Bears Split Once Again at Brandeis Invitational
WALTHAM, Mass. – Coast Guard split a pair of matches at the Brandeis Invitational as the Bears beat Wesleyan 3-1 before falling to Williams 3-0.

Freshman Summer Adams was named to the All-tournament team for the Bears, who are now 5-2 on the season.

In the first match of the day, Coast Guard beat Wesleyan 3-1 (25-19, 25-27, 25-16, 25-16) as junior Ashley Dumont led the Bears with 10 kills to go with a pair of blocks and Adams added seven kills, five aces and seven digs. Junior Maggie Hine led the team with 26 assists while freshman Michelle Hernandez added 20 assists in the win.

In the final match of the day, Williams beat the Bears 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 28-26). Sophomore Susan West led the Bears with 11 kills while Dumont finished with seven kills and two blocks. McGill had a team-high 11 digs while freshman Madison Scott added three kills.

"It was a great day at the Brandeis Invitational where I think we learned a lot," said Coast Guard head coach Aylene Ilkson. "Maggie Hine, Susan West and Ashley Dumont did great things for us offensively along with Michelle Hernandez and Michelle McGill defensively. We fought really hard both matches and I'm proud of what we accomplished as a team this weekend. Summer Adams earning All-tournament honors was certainly deserving for her consistent efforts both days."

The Bears are off all week and will host rival Merchant Marine on Saturday at noon.
