NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard junior Kelsey DePorto has been named to the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Honorable Mention Team. This is the third consecutive season DePorto has been honored by NEWVA after being named to the All-Rookie Team, Second Team, and Rookie of the Year in 2010, and garnering Second team honors in 2011.
Deporto led the Bears with a .356 hitting percentage and 105 blocks and was second on the team with 274 kills. She was also named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team for the third consecutive season.
The NEWVA First, Second and Honorable Mention Teams are each comprised of seven players selected by a vote of all participating member head coaches following the nomination process.
Established 26 years ago, the New England Women's Volleyball Association is open to all collegiate institutions in New England sponsoring Division III women's volleyball. Membership has grown to 58 members in 2012, representing nine conferences.
Coast Guard finished the season with an 18-14 overall record and went 6-3 in the NEWMAC.
