BRUNSWICK, Maine – Coast Guard dropped a pair of non-conference games this afternoon to Wellesley (3-0) and Hamilton (3-2) at Bowdoin College.
Coast Guard has now dropped three straight to drop to 14-11 on the season.
In the first match of the afternoon, Coast Guard fell in three straight sets to Wellesley 25-23, 25-21, 26-24. Leading the way for the Bears was senior Catherine Walker with 11 kills while classmate Keriann Mason had eight. Karen Matic dished out 23 assists and 10 digs while Samantha Marmolejo added 10 digs of her own.
In the second match, Hamilton and Coast Guard exchanged set wins but the Continentals come away victorious in five sets 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-11.
Mason was huge in this match as she registered a career-high 28 kills and a team-high 19 digs while Walker had 17 kills to go with ten digs. Freshman Maggie Hine had a career-high 46 assists for the Bears in the loss to Hamilton. Matic and sophomore Elise Sako each added 15 digs for Coast Guard.
Coast Guard returns to the floor and looks to extend their home win streak to school-record tying 26 games on Tuesday, October 16th as they play host to NEWMAC foe Mount Holyoke at 7:00 p.m.
