GENEVA, OHIO-- Sophomore Leilani Salang finished 10th overall and junior Ben Zarlengo finished in 12th place, both in the discus on the first day of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships.
Salang finished 10th overall in the discus with a throw of 136'4" (41.56m) in her first ever appearance at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships. She finishes her season as the NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Year and set the school record in the discus with a 154'10" (47.19m) throw at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier Meet. She also earned All-New England honors for the second time in her career.
Zarlengo finished 12th overall in the discus at 154'9" (47.16m) in his first event at the championships. He will participate in the hammer throw event on Saturday at 1:45 PM.
No Bears are scheduled to compete tomorrow. On Saturday, junior Adora Lawrence will be competing in the 400 at 1:10 PM. Zarlengo in the hammer at 1:45 PM. Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney will finish off the day for the Bears at 3:00 PM in the 5k.
