RICHMOND, Va. - The Coast Guard women's track and field team opened the outdoor season at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond.
Junior Gabrielle Troise was the top finisher on Friday for the Bears in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.27 meters earning her a sixth place finish. Troise also set a school record in the shot put with a throw of 39'11.25" for an eighth place finish.
On the track Sophomore Caroline Jenkins also earned a top ten finish for Coast Guard crossing the line in ninth place (1:08.93) in the 400 hurdles. Senior Alexandra Cobb finished in 12th place in 1:13.02.
Sophomore Nina Ragle ran 12:49.33 in the 3K steeplechase for a eighth place finish to start the season.
In the 10K, junior Rachel Burchill finished in fourth place crossing the line in 40:41.56.

Coast Guard is back in action tomorrow, March 25th, at day two of the Fred Hardy Invitational.
