4x400, 4x800 Highlight Second Day of Open New England Championship

BOSTON, Mass. - The Coast Guard women's track and field 4x400 team set a new school record as the Bears competed at day two of the Open New England Championship at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The Coast Guard 4x400 of senior Sarah Cummings, freshman Madeline Colwell, sophomore Caroline Jenkins and freshman Adora Lawrence crossed the line in 4:01.68 breaking the school record set early this season of 4:02.17. Lawrence anchored the team in a blazing 57.7 split.

The Bears 4x800 also earned All-New England honors with a seventh place finish in a time of 9:27.08. The team was comprised of sophomore Anita Green, senior Bonny Turnage, sophomore Morgan Garrett and junior Ashlee Johnson

The other competitor for the Bears was junior Gabrielle Troise who finished in 19th place with a throw of 38-9.50 in the shot put.

The women's track and field team is back in action on March 3rd and 4th when they take part in the Tufts Last Chance meet.
