CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Coast Guard women's track and field team finished in 11th place at the Division III New England Championship hosted by MIT.
The Bears finished with 20 points tying them with Amherst and putting them one point behind Bowdoin and Conn. College. MIT was the overall champion with 149 points.
Junior Gabrielle Troise earned All-New England honors twice on the day as she finished in sixth place and a new school record in the weight throw (49-8) and seventh in the shot put (38-11.5). She broke the record from 2005 set by Lily Zepeda.
Junior Ashlee Johnson also set a new school record and earned All-New England honors for the Bears in the 600 crossing the line in 1:37.87 for a sixth place finish. Johnson broke JoEllen Arons record of 1:37.93 set back in 2005.
Also earning All-New England honors for the Bears was the DMR team comprised of senior Bonny Turnage, Lawrence, Garrett and Green, who ran 12:35.81 for a sixth place finish.
The 4x400 team of freshman Madeline Colwell, senior Sarah Cummings, sophomore Caroline Jenkins and freshman Anna Beck ran to an eighth place finish in a time of 4:07.3 securing All-New England honors for the quartet.
The Bears are back in action on February 24th and 25th when they compete at the New England Open Championship at Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
