Piker Wins Javelin at Home Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Coast Guard women's track & field team came in fourth place at the Coast Guard Academy Spring Invitational with 86.5 points and taking another point from arch rival Merchant Marine in the Superintendents cup standings which the Bears clinched last month.

Junior Caitlin Piker was the only first place finisher on the day for the Bears as she took first in the Javelin with a throw of 119'3".

Senior Monet Masters was second in the pole vault (10'11.75") while classmate Madison Ahlers all took a second place finish in the 400 (1:01.90).

Freshman Caroline Jenkins was fifth in the 100 hurdles clearing the hurdles in 17.05 and third in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.34 while sophomore Alexandra Cobb was right behind her in fourth in 1:12.42. 

Sophomore Gabrielle Troise took third in the hammer throw (133'11"), fifth in the shot put (34'5") and sixth in the discus (105'1") while her sister sophomore Alexandria Troise was fourth in the discus (116'3") and sixth in the hammer (128'1").

The Bears are back in action on Saturday, April 9th when they travel north for the Amherst College Invitational.
