Women’s track and field posts four top-10 finishes at New England Regional meet

WATERVILLE, Maine-Junior Abby Bishop and sophomore Beth Gollin each took home third place finishes as the Coast Guard women's track and field team placed 17th at the Division III New England Regional Meet hosted by Colby College. The Bears scored 17.5 points and MIT won the overall title with 126.50 points.

Bishop placed third in a field of 12 competitors in the heptathlon, scoring 4,115 points, on her way to earning All-New England honors. Gollin ran a personal record time of 11:03.98 in the 3000 meter steeplechase to move herself up in the national rankings on her way to a third place finish.

Sophomore Kyle Sutschek threw the discus 125 feet, four inches as she tied for fifth in that event. Freshman Monet Masters also took home a top-ten finish by finishing seventh in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, eight inches on her best vault of the day.

Next up for Coast Guard will be a trip to Stonehill College next weekend for the All Division New England Regional Meet on May 10th and 11th.
