Bears Place 7th at NEWMAC

NORTHAMPTON, MASS.--(4/28/12)--Emily Trudeau won the shot put as Coast Guard placed seventh at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship at Smith College.

Trudeau won the shot put with a throw of 11.44 meters, Kyle Sutschek was second in the discus (37.38 meters) to earn All-conference honors.

Beth Gollin was seventh in the 1,500 meters (4:52.86), Kendall Auth was seventh in the 5,000 meters (19:50.07) and Abby Bishop was eighth in the 100 hurdles (16.44).

The Bears 4x100 relay team of Brandy Lowary, Elizabeth Baumsteiger, Julia Mundy and Natasha Hope placed seventh with a time of 54.18.

The Bears 4x400 relay team of Baumsteiger, Maddie Ede, Annie Schneider and Sarah Hohenberger also placed seventh posting a time of 4:23.34.

MIT won with 208 points while Coast Guard finished with 42 points.
