Sutschek, Lowary Lead Bears

NEW LONDON, CONN.--(4/21/12)--Freshman Kyle Sutschek won the discus with a career-best throw of 124 feet, four inches while sophomore Brandy Lowary won the high jump with a career-high leap of five feet, one inch leading Coast Guard to a third place finish at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College.

Also for the Bears, junior Gina Caylor won the pole vault (9-0.25), sophomore Hannah Seeland was second in the hammer with a career-best throw of 135 feet, one inch.

Sophomore Emily Trudeau was second in the shot put (36-11.75) and third in the discus (115-5).

Freshman Beth Gollin ran a career-best and was third in the 5,000 meters (18:51.27) and sophomore Elizabeth Flint was third in the triple jump (33-8) and junior Maddie Ede was third in the pole vault (8-0.5).

UMass Dartmouth won with 121 points, Conn. was second with 117.33 while the Bears finished the 13-team invitational with 105 points in third place.
