Young, Passilla Lead Bears to First Win of Season

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Kristen Young won three individual events and was part of a winning relay leading Coast Guard to its first win of the season, a 162-136 win over WPI.

Young won the 50 freestyle (25.11), 200 freestyle (1:57.74) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.98) and was part of the 200 medley relay team of freshman Sarah Passilla, senior Julianne Rogers and senior Jackie Kokomoor which won in 1:53.51.

Passilla also won three events as she won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.46), the 100 freestyle (54.35) and the 200 IM (2:13.43) in the win.

Also for the Bears, junior Samantha Kenis won the 200 backstroke (2:15.57) and the 200 freestyle relay of Kokomoor, freshman Hannah Fernandes, freshman Felicia Lombardi and junior Christine McCulla won in 1:41.99.

The Bears (1-3) are back in action on Saturday at Tufts in a dual meet at 1:00.
