WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Kristen Young earned All-conference honors in the 200 freestyle as she placed second to lead the Bears during the third day of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship at WPI.
Coast Guard sits in sixth place with one day remaining.
The Bears 200 medley relay team of sophomore Samantha Kenis, sophomore Addy Rutkoske, sophomore Celia Marzinsky and junior Jackie Kokomoor placed fifth with a time of 1:50.05
Also for the Bears Rutkoske placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.39.
MIT is 15 points shy of an even thousand with 985. WPI moved back into second with 518.5 points. Wheaton College (496), Springfield College (487) and Wellesley College (348) are third through fifth. The second group is led by U.S. Coast Guard Academy (341). The Bears are followed by Smith College (240.5), Clark University (232), Mount Holyoke College (163) and Babson College (116).
The last day of action will include the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 400-yard freestyle relay and 3-meter dive. Trials begin at 10am and finals at 6pm.
