Bears Sit in 6th at NEWMAC Championship

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bears 200 freestyle relay placed third to highlight Coast Guard's performances at the second day of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship at WPI and the Bears are now sixth overall.

The Bears 200 freestyle relay of Jacklyn Kokomoor, Kristen Young, Addy Rutkoske and Tricia Talens placed third in 1:38.12.

MIT finished with 564 to lead Springfield College (296), WPI (272), Wheaton College (246), Wellesley College (223), U.S. Coast Guard Academy (190), Smith College (160), Clark University (143), Mount Holyoke College (114) and Babson College (88).

Coast Guard's 400 medley relay of Samantha Kenis, Rutkoske, Young and Kokomoor placed fifth in 3:58.21

Also for the Bears, Christine McCulla was seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:09.60) and Kokomoor was eighth in the 50 freestyle (24.73).

Saturday features the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard medley relay and the 1-meter dive. Trials begin at 10am and finals at 6pm.
