MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Sophomore Kristen Young won two events as Coast Guard came in second place at the CT Cup hosted by Wesleyan.
The Bears finished with 500 points while Connecticut College won the meet with 643 points.
Young won both the 100 free in 53.62 and the 200 free in 1:57.27. She was second in the 500 free in 5:15.08 as well.
Young also was a part of three relay teams. She teamed with sophomores Christine McCulla and Brooke Harkrader and junior Jacklyn Kokomoor to win the 400 free relay in 3:39.26. The same quartet finished in second place in the 200 free relay (1:36.69). For her final team points she helped the Bears 400 medley relay of sophomores Samantha Kenis, Celia Marzinsky and junior Julianne Rogers finish in second place touching the wall in 4:06.24.
The other first place finisher on the day for Coast Guard was Kenis who took the top spot in the 200 back with a time of 2:09.25. She was also a member of the 200 medley relay with Marzinsky, Rogers and Kokomoor that took second in 1:53.55 and was third in the 100 back (1:01.84).
Sophomore Addy Rutkoske earned top three finishes three time finishing second in the 100 breast (1:10.77) and 50 breast (32.33) and third in the 200 breast (2:35.56).
Marzinsky racked up two individual second place finishes as she touched the wall second in the 200 fly (2:14.28) and the 100 fly (1:00.90).
McCulla tagged on three individual third place finishes in the 500 free (5:19.85), 100 free (55.15) and the 200 free (1:58.89).
Rounding out top three finishes for the Bears was Kokomoor with a second place finish in the 50 free in 25.04 and junior Tricia Talens who was second on the 200 IM in 2:17.43.
Coast Guard is back in action after the New Year for a tri-meet against Wellesley and Babson on January 5th.
