Young Leads Bears to Win in Final Dual Meet of Season

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Kristen Young won three individual events and was part of the winning 400 medley relay team leading Coast Guard to a 168-128 win over Wesleyan in the final dual meet of the season.

Young won the 100 freestyle (54.77), 200 freestyle (1:58.61) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.86) while the 400 medley relay team of Samantha Kenis, Addy Rutkoske, Young and Jackie Kokomoor won with a time of 4:07.48.

Also for the Bears, Christine McCulla won the 500 freestyle in 5:23.82 and the 1,000 freestyle (11:06.94) while Rutkoske won the 100 breaststroke (1:09.57), Celia Marzinsky won the 200 butterfly (2:18.56), Patti Eidenire won the 50 freestyle (25.48), Kenis won the 200 backstroke (2:13.11) and Julianne Rogers won the 200 breaststroke (2:23.38) as the Bears finished with a dual record of 5-6.

The Bears now prepare for the NEWMAC Championships which begin February 18th at MIT.
