NEW LONDON, Conn. - Coast Guard topped Clark 139-90 Friday night in swimming and diving action and the 200 free relay team of Kristen Young, Patti Eidenire, Jacklyn Kokomoor and Victoria Talens broke the pool record with a time of 1:40.76 breaking the old record from 2003.
With the win the Bears improve to 4-6 on the season while the Cougars fall to 2-3.
Young and sophomore Maddie Heist then earned a second and third respectively in the 1000 yard freestyle touching the wall in 10:50.00 and 11:22.99.
McCulla placed in her second event of the day as she finished the 200 yard freestyle in second place (2:00.32). Sophomore Vicky Talens was right behind her in third place in 2:04.08.
Senior Patti Eidenire got Coast Guard back on the winning track as she took first place in the 50 yard freestyler (25.15) followed by sophomore Jackie Kokomoor in second (26.23).
In the 400 IM Kenis and Heist earned their second set of points for the Bears as Kenis touched the wall in 4:51.48 in first while Heist was third in 5:54.03.
Marzinsky was the first swimmer for the Bears with two first place finished as she took the top spot in the 200 yard butterfly (2:21.41) while senior Megan Toomey took third (2:21.78).
Coast Guard swept their third event of the meet as they took the top three spot in the 100 yd freestyle behind Young (54.46), Eidenire (57.04) and junior Rachel Seaman (58.27).
Kenis once again scored for the Bears along with Talens as they took first and third in the 200 yard backstroke.
Coast Guard is back in action on January 30th as they travel to Middletown, Connecticut to face Wesleyan. The meet will begin at 1:00 pm.
