Bears Finish 6th at NEWMAC Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Coast Guard's 400 freestyle relay took fourth, the top finish for the Bears on Sunday, the final day of competition, at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at WPI.

The 400 freestyle relay of Patti Eidenire, Jackie Kokomoor, Vicky Talens and Darlene Sao placed fourth with a time of 3:33.92.

The Bears also had a pair of fifth place finishes as sophomore Kaitlyn Toth was fifth in the 200 butterfly (2:12.94) while Sao placed fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.43.

Coast Guard placed sixth of the ten teams overall with 477.5 points while  MIT  won with 1,278 points, Springfield was second with 840 followed by Wellesley (751), WPI (704), Wheaton (552) rounded out the top five.

The Bears placed seventh at the NEWMAC Championships last season.
