NEW LONDON, Conn.-- Darlene Sao won three individual events and was part of the winning 200 medley relay team leading Coast Guard to a 172-124 win over rival Merchant Marine in the final home meet of her career.
Sao won the 100 freeestyle in 54.37, the 200 freestyle (1:59.13) and the 200 IM (2:13.34) while the Bears 200 medley relay team of Carolyn Slife, Kelsey Gray, Caitlyn Gever and Sao won with a time of 1:54.43.
Maddie Heist won both the 500 freestyle (5:39.54) and the 1,000 freestyle in 11:29.70 for the Bears while Patti Eidenire won the 50 freestyle (25.15) and the 400 freestyle relay team of Jackie Kokomoor, Eidenire, Gever and Vicky Talens won in 3:47.28.
Sara Cantrell won the 3-meter diving with 249 points and placed second on the 1-meter board with a score of 250.5.
Haley McWilliams took a pair of second place finishes in the 500 freestyle (5:44.07) and 1,000 freestyle (11:33.72).
Also placing second for Coast Guard were Talens in the 200 freestyle (2:04.06), Slife in the 100 backstroke (1:04.28), Kaitlyn Toth in the 200 butterfly (2:20.49), Kokomoor in the 50 freestyle (26.03), Carlie Gilligan in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.89),
The Bears, who are now 3-7 in dual meets, are back in action next Saturday at Clark with the meet set for 1 p.m.
