NEW LONDON, Conn.-- Senior Darlene Sao set the pool record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.57 while also winning the 100 freestyle (54.82) and the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:59.39 leading Coast Guard to a 152-142 win over Wheaton in the Bears' home opener.
Senior Sara Cantrell was one of three double winners as she won the 1-meter diving (234 points) and 3-meter diving (234.30) diving events for the Bears, who improved to 1-2 on the season.
Freshman Ainsley Fruhwirth won both the 100 breaststroke (1:11.37) and the 200 breaststroke (2:35.07) while freshman Maddie Heist won the 1,000 freestyle (11:19.32) and the 500 freestyle (5:30.99). Sophomore Rebekah Muller won the 50 freestyle (25.31) and the Bears 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Jackie Kokomoor, junior Patti Eidenire, freshman Victoria Talens and Muller won with a time of 3:44.15.
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15th when they take on Providence and WPI in Worcester, Mass at 1 p.m.
