NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Chantel Ferguson won both the 400 IM and 100 butterfly and was part of the winning 200 medley relay while junior diver Sara Cantrell won both boards leading Coast Guard to a 142-89 win over Clark in the final home meet of the season.
Ferguson won the 400 IM (4:50.09) and the 100 butterfly (100.64) while Cantrell qualified for the NCAA regional meet on the 3-meter board with a winning score of 283.43 while also winning the 1-meter event with 252.68 points.
Junior Darlene Sao won the 200 freestyle (1:58.50), sophomore Patti Eidenire won the 50 freestyle (25.78) and freshman Carlie Gilligan won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.81) for the Bears, who are 3-6 in dual meets this season.
The Bears 200 medley relay team of Sao, Gilligan, Ferguson and Eidenire posted a winning time of 1:56.96 while the 200 freestyle relay team of freshman Rachel Seaman, Sao, sophomore Carly Campbell and junior Caitlyn Gever won with a time of 1:44.08.
Freshman Miranda Fay took second in the 1,000 freestyle (11:15.87), Seaman was second in the 50 freestyle (25.97), freshman Kaitlyn Toth took second in the 400 IM (5:00.80), Eidenire was second in the 100 freestyle (56.56), sophomore Abby Isaacs took second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.99) and junior Kelsey Gray placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:14.22).
Coast Guard will close out the dual meet portion of the season on Saturday at Wesleyan.
