Boohar Named NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard Academy sophomore Rachel Boohar has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week as the Bears went a perfect 3-0 during the week with all three games being decided in overtime.

The Bears are off to the best start in program history with a record of 3-0-1 to start the season.

She was outstanding leading the Bears to a trio of 2-1 wins, two in double overtime and one in overtime. Boohar had 21 saves during the week. Her best performance of the week was a 12 save performance on Saturday at Mary Washington. She also had three saves in a double OT win at Nichols and six saves in a OT win against Randolph Macon on Sunday in the second day of the Mary Washington Classic.

Boohar has a 0.88 goals against average on the season and a .867 save percentage. She is tied for first in the NEWMAC with 26 saves on the year. She has not allowed more than one goal in a single game this season.
