BOSTON, Mass. - Coast Guard earned their second straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) win of the season topping Emerson 19-3 Saturday morning.
With the win, the Bears improve to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Lions fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-1 in the NEWMAC.
Freshman Brenna Farrington finished with a game high four goals. She leads the NEWMAC in goals (46) and points (47) and as of March 29th was tied for ninth in the country in goals per game average.
Freshman Haley McCue finished with two goals and one assists while senior Daria McKenna finished with two goals and two assists. McKenna continues to inch closer to becoming the first player in program history to record 100 points in her career as she now sits at 97. Junior Carter Sanderson matched Farrington with a four goals of her own while freshman Marietta Davis finished with two goals. Freshman Haley Howard had two points on one goal and one assists.
Tara Windsor led Emerson with two goals
Coast Guard charged out to a 7-0 lead in the first half capped off by a goal from Davis with 8:15 left in the opening stanza.
After the Lions got on the board with a goal from Kelli Mark, the Bears scored two more to end the half with a 10-1 lead.
Coast Guard did not let off in the second, scoring nine more goals as they won their second straight NEWMAC game to start the season 19-3.
Kristina Modica (0-7) made 10 saves and allowed 19 goals.
Coast Guard is back in action on Wednesday, April 4th when they host Kean in non-conference action. Opening draw is 5:00 PM.
