NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Coast Guard Academy freshman Brenna Farrington has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Farrington led Coast Guard to a 2-0 week including nine goals in the program's first ever NEWMAC win over Smith. Farrington finished the week with 13 goals as she added four in the Bears rivalry win over Merchant Marine, 16-12.
She broke numerous team records during the 21-15 win over Smith, scoring a career high nine goals. That is now the most goals and points in a single game by any player in program history. She also breaks Niki Krugers' record of 29 goals in a single season from 2015, pushing her total to 37 on the year.
Farrington leads the NEWMAC with 37 goals this season and is second with 38 points.
Coast Guard, which has already won a school-record six games, is 6-1 on the season and the Bears are back in action on Tuesday at Elms at 5:00.
