FREDERICK, Md. – Coast Guard remained undefeated on the season as they took down Hood 15-4 in non-conference action.
With the win, the Bears improve to 4-0 while the Blazers fall to 3-4. The win surpasses their season total from last year and ties them for the program record for wins in a single season.
Freshman Brenna Farrington continued her torrid start to the season scoring a game high five goals. She leads the NEWMAC with 22 goals on the season and is third in points with 23. Coming into the game on Saturday, she was 22nd in the Division III with a 5.67 goals per game average.
Senior Daria McKenna tallied four points on a goal and three assists while junior Carter Sanderson scored three goals. Freshmen Marietta Davis (two goals), Mary Goins (two goals) and Erin Mullen all finished with two points.
Hood was led by Rachel Slater who had two goals and an assist. Kara Phoubandith and Cassidy O'Neill each had goals as well.
After a slow first half that saw the Bears holding only a three goal lead (5-2), Coast Guard erupted for 10 second half goals all scored in a row. Farrington had all five of her goals in the period while McKenna had three of her four points wrapping up the win.
Freshman Rebecca Dolan (3-0) remained undefeated on the season, making two saves and allowing four goals. She is third in the conference with a 8.14 goals against average.
Rylie Benoit-Nobis (3-4) made eight saves allowing the 15 goals.
Coast Guard is back in action on Tuesday, March 13th when they take on Ursinus in non-conference action. Opening draw is 4:00 pm.
