NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard freshman Abigail Bradford has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.
In the Bears only game of the week, Bradford scored a career-high three goals while adding an assist in an 11-10 win over Virginia Wesleyan. She becomes just the second Coast Guard women's lacrosse player to win NEWMAC weekly honors and the first since 2015.
Bradford also had four ground balls, two draw controls and forced a turnover as Coast Guard registered its first win of the season to improve to 1-3 on the year.
The Bears trailed 7-4 at halftime before outscoring the Marlins 7-3 in the second half for the road win.
Bradford is second on team with six goals to go with her one assist.
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday when the travel to archrival Merchant Marine for a noon start.
