BOSTON, Mass. --  Emerson scored the first two goals of the game, led 8-1 at halftime and never looked back beating Coast Guard 13-4 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

The Lions improve to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play while the Bears drop to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in the NEWMAC.

Emerson led 2-0 before freshman Carter Sanderson scored her eighth goal of the season with 25:07 left in the first half to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Leading 3-1, the Lions would add a pair of goals just 32 seconds apart pushing the lead to 5-1 before taking an 8-1 lead into halftime.

Sophomore Jackie Kokomoor, freshman Anne McGoldrick and senior Isabelle Patnode would score second half goals for the Bears. It was the first goal of her career for Patnode.

Emerson outshot the Bears 34-12.  Sophomore Angel Fay had 13 saves in goal for Coast Guard.

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday night at Mount Holyoke in a NEWMAC game at 6:00.
