Bears Split at Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Junior Victoria Borges had five goals while senior Brianna Townsend added three goals leading Coast Guard to a 14-12 win over the Hofstra club team before NYU beat the Bears by the same 14-12 score.

In the win over Hofstra, freshman goalkeeper Hannah Delguerico was outstanding once again making 11 saves in the win.

Sophomore Melissa Keeley added two goals in the win while senior Molly Smith and junior Elizabeth Surgent led the way for the Bears with four ground balls each.

In the loss to NYU, junior Elizabeth Surgent and Borges each had three goals while sophomore Kimberlee Capp and sophomore Anne Schneider added two goals each.

Delguerico finished with nine saves.

Coast Guard is now 2-1 on the season and the Bears are back in action on Saturday, March 22nd when they host Sacred Heart Club at 11 a.m. in the home opener.
