Five Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Coast Guard women's rowing team had five cadet-athletes named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes.

Seniors Cathy Durand (Marine and Environmental Sciences) and Judy Hooymans (Electrical Engineering) were two of five honored along with  juniors Elyse Bobczynski (Marine and Environmental Sciences), Brynna Cooke (Marine and Environmental Sciences) and sophomore Emily Quallen (Marine and Environmental Sciences).

To be named to the team, a student-athlete must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or above,  be at least in her second season of eligibility and have rowed in the institutions NCAA or IRA eligible boat for  a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
