NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard freshman Emma Puddington has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week for her performances in the Bears two wins last week.
Coast Guard opened NEWMAC play with a pair of wins, beating Mount Holyoke 101-41 and Wheaton 89-60.
Puddington had 20 points, 11 rebounds (nine defensive rebounds), five blocks and eight steals during the two wins.
She had six defensive rebounds four steals and three blocks against Mount Holyoke and five rebounds (three defensive), four steals and a pair of blocks in the win over Wheaton.
Coast Guard is now 3-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Puddington is second on the team with 8.7 points per game and third with 5.9 rebounds per game and 13 steals.
The Bears are back in action tonight at Trinity in a non-conference game at 7:00
