As we the prepare for the summer days, we want to take a look back at some of the outstanding accomplishments and special moments from the 2017-18 athletic seasons and revisit those events that each of our 25 teams celebrated this year.
We hope you enjoy looking back at the great accomplishments by our cadet-athletes and teams. We are going in alphabetical order, today we look at women's basketball. Next up on Monday, will be men's cross country.
BEARS MAKE 6THSTRAIGHT NEWMAC TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE
Coast Guard earned a sixth straight trip to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament this season. The Bears finished 13-13 overall.
GERTON JOINS THE 1,000 POINT CLUB
Senior Gillian Gerton became the 10thplayer in program history to score 1,000 career points in game at Springfield on Jan. 31st.
Gerton finished her career as only the fourth player in program history with over 1,000 points (1,078) and over 700 rebounds (747). She also is the first player in program history to record over 100 blocks as she finished with a record 135 blocks. Gerton finished her career with 24 double-doubles.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Junior Micaela Martinelli led the team with 12.6 points per game while making a team-high 56 three point field goals. Gerton, who averaged 11.2 points per game, led the way with seven rebounds per game this season.
