Bears Advance to Sperry Women's National Championship Finals

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Women's Sailing Team finished third at the ICSA Sperry Women's National Championship Western Semifinals and advance to the Finals. Racing will start at 10am on Thursday morning for the 36 race series that will decide the 2017 National Champion.

The semifinals were contested over two days of variable conditions. The event started on Tuesday in a light southerly with strong outgoing current. After only four races per division, racing was called for the day due to inclement weather. An earlier start time on Wednesday allowed for better racing conditions before squalls once again took over and ultimately ended the event early after nine races per division.

The Bears climbed the leaderboard on Wednesday to finish third overall with a combined 87 points. Nikole Barnes, Anna Morin, and Anna Maria Vaccaro finished third in A-Division with 46 points. Dana Rohde, Maddie Ekin, and Madelynn Widmeier finished second in B-Division with 41 points.

The top nine from each semifinal advanced to the finals which get underway at 10am Thursday. The results will be posted live on the link below. Cheer on the Bears by following along on Tech Score and social media - @cgabears. Go Bears!
